How To Blog For Work At Home Moms (WAHMs)

Blogs are here to stay, and many Wahms are taking advantage of the trend. Many work at home moms choose blogs to make money. Setting up blogs is simple and updating is relatively easy. When you compare blogs to other types of websites this is especially true. Within just a few minutes, you can set up a professional looking blog for free and start your Wahm blogging business.

A blog is an easy to update website that looks sort of like a journal. Make an entry at least once a week, the newest entries appearing at the top. Usually entries are short articles containing 200 to 500 words. Readers visit the blog or read the new blog entries through a blog reading program. Readers can provide links between their own blogs and your blog and they can comment on entries.

With blogs, the opportunities are wide open. Looking at your own life for inspiration makes choosing a blog topic easy. There are blogs about everything from celebrity news to bathroom cleaning tips. Do some research on the Internet to investigate if people are interested in the blog topic you have in mind, before you actually start it. If you have a dedicated group of people who are interested in your topic, it doesn't have to be a populair one.

Make sure to stay within a fairly small "niche when picking a topic.” The term niche is used to describe a group of people who have a similar interest. There are small niches - like tips for training your cat to sit on the toilet - and big niches - like working at home. Try to get as many readers as you can for your blog by finding a happy medium between a populair topic and a niche interest. Some topics, like working at home or parenting, are too broad and have too much competition for readers.

A free blogging platform, like www, can be used to set up your blog.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com. There are also a half dozen others to choose from. Use the blogging platform to make your first entry into your blog, it will walk you through it.

It's time to monetize your blog when you've made a few entries into your blog. This means you’ll be making specific changes to your blog in order to make money. Use Google Adsense or Chitika, contextual advertising programs, it is one of the most populair ways to gain income from a blog. Contextual advertising pays you for each time a reader clicks on one of the advertising links on your page. The advertising program will scan your blog entries for keywords, and then place advertising on your page that relates to your page content.

For instance, the ads next to the article will have to do with Sesame street if you are writing an article about the program because you have a blog on children's television. They might be links to shopping for Sesame Street items, or an ad for vintage Sesame Street collectables selling on ebay.

Targetting Mispellings For SEO

Spelling just isn't the easiest thing. According to google, on average there are approximately 18100 searches a month for the phrase, 'Caribbean Holidays'. Compare that however to its misspelling, Carribean Holidays which has on average a grand, 22200 searches a month! Furthermore, the phrase 'Caribean Holidays' also receives approximately 1900 searches per month. In this instance that is at least 24100 searches for the misspelt version of caribbean.

Travel companies looking to target new business to their holiday websites need to consider how they are going to pull traffic in using these misspellings without making their sites look unprofessional.

A great, quick method is to use pay-per-click ads. Amazingly, a lot of advertisers don't think to include a list of misspellings in the keyword list for their site and those who do are reaping fat rewards for their efforts. If you find misspellings that are used by searchers but not yet noted by your competitors, you can find that you are paying very little for clicks to your site.

By using Google Traffic esti, ator we can see that although the misspellings, Caribean Holiday and craibean Holidays do in fact receive less traffic than the correct spelling, Caribbean Holidays, the fact they get traffic at all infers that across a broad range of traffic you could significantly pick up more traffic to your site. Use this strategy en masse to increase your traffic and your profits.

Even though searchers will misspelly keywords, they sometimes will use Googles correction system so that a new set of results appear. However, this is not always the case so make sure your PPC ads have great titles.

Have a quick look at google adwords tool which will show you a list of related terms to the keywords you have submitted. Oftentimes these are popular misspellings of the given keyword. You could ask people how they spell words, but the fastest method is to do a misspellings search using any of a plethora of tools that you can find on the web.

Always rememebr to add mispelt words to your keyword campaigns.

What Is Adsense?

Google Adsense is a unique program that can generate a lot of revenues over time. Here is an overview of the Google Adsense Program.

To understand the basics of Google Adsense, you first have to understand Google Adwords. Adwords is a program where people can bid per click to buy space on platforms Google supports with advertisements. This includes the ads you see on the top and down the right column of results when you search on Google.com.

Adsense is the result of a crafty little idea wherein Google essentially wanted to maximize distribution of Adwords. With Adsense, Google took the unique approach of allowing independent publishers place Adwords advertisements on their web pages. This type of advertising is known within the Adwords platform as contextual advertising and advertisers can opt out of it. Most do not.

The beauty of Google Adsense is it creates additional revenue sources for sites. For instance, lets assume someone bids 60 cents in Adwords for the placement of their ads. A site then shows those ads through the Adsense program. When an ad is clicked by a person on that site, Google charges the advertiser and shares the profits with the site. The exact amount of profit shared is not announced by Google, but is known to depend on the quality of traffic, click through rates and other aspects.

The Google Adsense program is incredibly simple to use. You sign up through Google Adsense program and, once approved, are able to select the format of ads you want to appear on the pages of your site. Google then immediately generates a java script, which you copy and paste into the html of your pages. You cannot change the code, but you can select any old location on your page you want.

Once you have inserted the code and republished your site, it is time to sit back and watch. Google provides stats within your account area. You can see the click and revenue generated information as well as monthly totals. Once you reach a minimum of $100 in revenues, Google will issue out a check to you. The check is issued more or less at the end of the month following the one in which you hit the magic $100 amount.

Google's Keyword Selector Tool

As you begin creating and writing compelling ads for your Google Adwords campaign, it's important to know which keywords and keyphrases to use so that people can identify your ad with ease. Perry Marshall (a Google Adwords expert) teaches pay-per-click users and advertisers to utilize the Google Adwords Keyword Selector Tool when creating their ads. This free tool allows you to find the most profitable and popular keywords in your niche, and can also help you drill down related keywords that you can use for other campaigns or just general keyword research. Google's Keyword Tool is very helpful at focusing your efforts if your ads aren't working; if your ad is only using low volume keywords, there's a possibility that your Adwords ads won't be clicked on enough to make your ad profitable.

Here are some additional methods for using Google's Adwords Keyword Selector Tool to successfully create your Adwords campaign

1. Start with a broad search. Most people use very specific keyword phrases when they first begin conducting research with Adwords, and this might be a mistake because it will typically leave you only with average results. Begin with broad search alternatively and dig into the results with the "synonyms" tool that provides variations and more suggestions as a part of the results.

2. Using a similar set of keywords, create different ad groups. Try to be certain that you are creating completely new ad groups for each campaign you create, so you can monitor what's working - and what is not. There is a 'relevant keywords' feature built right into the Adwords Keyword Selector Tool (that you can use) that will make it easier for you to narrow down your search.

3. Use 'negative keywords'. Sometimes optimizing your Google Adwords campaign will involve taking away words that do not work for your market; the Google Adwords tool can be tweaked to stop showing certain words that may not be relevant to your particular niche. For example, if you are selling greeting cards but your basic search keeps showing results for 'free greeting cards,' you can eliminate the word 'free' by designating it as a negative keyword. The Adwords Keyword Selector Tool will now only show you phrases that exclude the word "free".'

4. If you aren't sure where to start, you can use the Site Content feature. Google can scan your web page and offer suggestions of keywords based on your site's content. For example, if your home page provides information about services and trends in your marketplace, these may be strong keywords for your particular niche. After the search process, you will be given a list of targeted keywords related to these concepts and areas in the search results.

5. Location. There are many advertisers that don't realize how important adding geographic modifiers to your search phrase (like a city or state) really is. This can be important if you provide products or services that are geographically specific; the visitors you get from these types of phrases might be better than a less specific search, and will provide more qualified traffic to your site. Consider appending a keyword or keyphrase with a location to determine the best combinations for your ad campaign.

Marketing with Google Adwords is a powerful technique that most online-businesses can use to find more customers. Writing quality Google Ads is one of the most important skills to have when using Adwords - and there are many good training guides available online.
